Early 1600's, this one is the oldest named American variety. Thomas Jefferson planted some of these in the Monticello Orchard in the 1770s. Fantastic keeper, and like a lot of apples, the Roxbury improves with age. Disease resistance to Apple Scab, and Cedar Apple Rust is noted.
